Techno and other Electronic Music
09.06.99 I listen to alternative, rock, and a small amount of heavy metal, but I think my true nature is in electronic music. I grew up with rock, but the soothing melodies and pounding bass of techno and its other electronic sub-genres are more to my liking now. I still listen to other music, but this page was made with the purpose of... Hrmm. No purpose. I like techno and this site has 3 other good ideas as sections, why not add another favorite of mine.
I began with techno when Mandrake (or Beholder) downloaded Trip Like I Do by The Crystal Method + Filter (it was the version from the Spawn soundtrack). It was an incomplete download, and it ended shortly after the middle part when the girl says "why can't you trip like I do?" and then it hits hard and the music is furious. We liked the song, so Mandrake went back on the internet looking for the complete version. What he ended up getting was the original version by The Crystal Method. We already liked Filter, and that was one reason that I liked the Spawn version, but we liked the no-Filter song well also. After returning home (I think we had our computers networked) I went on the internet looking for more Crystal Method songs. I found about 8 I think. They were mostly Vegas tracks. I got as many TCM songs as I could find and listened to them pretty much exclusively. I had 1 playlist which was TCM and Blink-182 and that was how I spent my days, listening to a couple hours of MP3s over and over. After finding more and more Crystal Method songs, and after realizing that Mandrake and myself were hooked on them, we started looking for other techno music. Thats how I found my new favorite kind of music, which now accounts for 25+ hours of music in mp3s and almost one and a half gigs. None of those songs being bad either, if they aren't up to par, I dlete them. Mediocre music has no place with me.
Orbital and Crystal Method are my favorite groups in this genre and together make up over 8 hours of mp3s so far. I saw The Crystal Method in concert at the Agora in Cleveland with Lunatic Calm and DJ Taylor. I didn't really dig Lunatic Calm until The Matrix Soundtrack came out with Leave You Far Behind on it. I got their cd Metropol shortly after that. I was supremely pissed to discover that I would not be able to make the Community Service Tour stop at Nautica in Cleveland because of college orientation. Dammit OSU! The Crystal Method, Orbital, and Lo-Fidelity All-Stars! I really wanted to be there you bastards. It's a crying shame.
This is a winamp generated playlist of my techno directory. It does not yet include the Snivelisation songs which have yet to be ripped (which are included in the 8 hours figure above).
This is my complete playlist as of now. These files are offsite because I had trouble with tripod not allowing them to be showed (presumably because they don't want me running a mp3 site, which doesn't relate at all, but who knows...).
There are (will be) some songs in the Downloads section which I enjoy and would enjoy you to enjoy. They are located offsite, and are zipped so that I do not have a site discontinued due to mp3 distribution. The site is a xoom site because they have unlimited space, but they may be slow.
If you would like a song not offered here already, but that is in my playlist, I could probably oblige you. If you have anything you would like to add to my thoughts here, email me. I may put up album reviews and, if you are very lucky, some songs that I made. I have previously made some midis, and I may seriously try my hand at music making with cakewalk. I have some ideas, and I have the capacity for making good music, so wish me luck.
